Essa é pra quem gosta de boa música.

Você já observou que existem certas músicas que, além de conquistarem sua preferência, também caem no gosto de diferentes intérpretes, de diferentes gerações? Nem vou citar exemplos, porque me sinto incapaz de fazê-lo sem incorrer em omissões imperdoáveis. Mas falarei de uma canção, em particular.

Night and day, que nós ouvíamos desde a infância, gravada por tanta gente famosa, que se tornou um dos grandes sucessos de Cole Porter (foto), hoje é sucesso também num arranjo pra banda de rock, gravada por U2.

Então, quando a gente ouvi Naght and day gravada por U2, fica pensando: "como é possível transformar aquele clássico antigo, dos anos 40 ou 50, nesse sucesso de grupo roqueiro, fazendo-a ficar ainda mais bonita?".

E para quem não sabe, vale lembrar que Cole Porter teve seu auge na Brodway nos anos 40. Compôs cerca de 800 músicas, das quais umas 50 se tornaram grandes sucessos. Por sinal, é curiosa a vida desse cara. Não precisava correr atrás de dinheiro (nasceu rico), mas seu trabalho fez sucesso. Dizem que não se entusiasmava muito com o sexo oposto, mas viveu 30 anos com uma mulher que transformou sua vida.
